Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

To qualify for admission into the Pakistan Marine Academy, candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Nationality & Marital Status

Unmarried male citizens of Pakistan.

2. Age Limit

Must not be older than 20 years as of 31st December 2026.

Age Relaxation: Candidates from FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, and Balochistan are granted a 1-year age relaxation (up to 21 years as of 31st December 2026).

3. Academic Qualifications

F.Sc. / Pre-Engineering: Must have passed F.Sc. (Pre-Engineering) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, securing at least 55% marks.

O/A Levels: Candidates with O/A Levels must submit an Equivalency Certificate with minimum 55% marks issued by IBCC.

Hope Certificate: Candidates awaiting their F.Sc. Part-II results can apply with a Hope Certificate from their college head certifying that they are expected to score at least 60% marks in Part-II (provided they secured 55% or above in Part-I).

Important Note: If a candidate applying on a Hope Certificate fails to score 55% in F.Sc. Part-II, or fails to submit an IBCC equivalency certificate on time, their admission will be canceled immediately.

Degree & Training Structure

Training Duration: 02 years of residential military and academic training at PMA Karachi.

Degree Awarded:

Nautical Cadets receive a BS in Nautical Science degree from the University of Karachi.

Engineering Cadets receive a BS in Marine Engineering degree from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi.

The academy's training is fully recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Step-by-Step Selection Process:

The selection procedure moves through structured elimination rounds:

Entrance Test: Conducted simultaneously across key major cities: Abbottabad, Gwadar, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffarabad (AJK), Peshawar, Quetta, Sukkur, and Rawalpindi.

Medical Fitness Test: Conducted at designated military/civil hospitals for candidates who clear the entry test.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Test of running, push-ups, sit-ups, and chin-ups.

Interview: Final interview round for candidates passing the written, physical, and medical phases.
